Building a koi pond or water garden? Calculate the volume to choose the right pump, filter, and treatment dosage.
Volume = L × W × D × 0.85

Pond volume is calculated similarly to pools, but often requires an adjustment factor for irregular shapes and sloping sides.
For natural ponds that aren't perfect rectangles, we multiply the maximum length and width by the depth, and then by a factor (usually 0.85) to account for curves and slopes.Volume = Length × Width × Depth × 0.85
For round ponds:Volume = π × Radius² × Depth
Multiply cubic feet by 7.48 to get US gallons.Gallons = Cubic Feet × 7.48

Measure the maximum length and maximum width, then multiply by 0.85 (or use our Irregular mode). Alternatively, measure the width at several points and take the average.
