Storage Unit Sizing Guide
Choosing the right storage unit depends on how efficiently you pack. Our calculator assumes a standard packing density, but you can fit more if you stack high and disassemble furniture.
Common Unit Sizes
- 5' x 5' (25 sq. ft.): Comparable to a large closet. Good for boxes, twin mattress, seasonal gear.
- 5' x 10' (50 sq. ft.): Comparable to a walk-in closet. Fits a queen bed, dresser, TV, and boxes.
- 10' x 10' (100 sq. ft.): Comparable to half a one-car garage. Fits the contents of a one-bedroom apartment.
- 10' x 20' (200 sq. ft.): Comparable to a standard one-car garage. Fits a 3-4 bedroom house or a vehicle.
Packing Tips
1. Use Uniform Boxes: Same-size boxes stack easier and safer.
2. Leave an Aisle: Leave a walkway in the center to access items at the back.
3. Label Everything: You will forget what is in "Box 4" in six months.
