Setting up a projector requires precise measurements. The Throw Ratio is the most important specification to understand.
Throw Distance = Screen Width × Throw RatioThrow ratio is the relation between the distance from the screen and the width of the screen. Formula: Ratio = Distance / Width.
Short throw projectors (Ratio < 1.0) can create large images from very close distances. Standard throw (Ratio 1.5 - 2.0) projectors need to be placed at the back of the room.
For a standard 16:9 HDTV screen, the width is approximately 0.87 times the diagonal measurement.
