Find the pixel density (PPI) of any display.
PPI stands for Pixels Per Inch. It is a measurement of the pixel density (resolution) of an electronic image device, such as a computer monitor or television screen.
dₚ = √(w² + h²)PPI = dₚ / dᵢWhere w=width pixels, h=height pixels, dᵢ=diagonal size in inches
PPI (Pixels Per Inch) refers to digital displays and input devices. DPI (Dots Per Inch) typically refers to printed resolution, though the terms are often used interchangeably.
Apple defines 'Retina' loosely as a PPI high enough that the human eye cannot distinguish individual pixels at a normal viewing distance. For phones, this is usually 300+ PPI; for laptops, 220+ PPI.
Higher PPI means sharper images and text. Low PPI results in pixelation or 'screen door effect', especially on large monitors sitting close to the user.
