Running Pace Explained
Pace is the rate at which you run, usually expressed in minutes per kilometer (min/km) or minutes per mile (min/mi). It is practically the inverse of speed (km/h or mph).
Training Zones
- Easy Run: A pace where you can hold a full conversation. Usually 60-90 seconds slower than your 5k race pace.
- Tempo Run: "Comfortably hard" pace. You can speak in short sentences but not full paragraphs.
- Intervals: Very hard efforts where speaking is difficult. Usually faster than 5k race pace.
