Perimeter Calculator

Calculate perimeter and area of various geometric shapes with step-by-step solutions

📐 Perimeter Calculator

Formula

P = 2(l + w)

Where:

  • P =Perimeter
  • C =Circumference
  • l =Length
  • w =Width
  • s =Side length
  • r =Radius
  • a, b, c =Triangle sides
  • n =Number of sides
  • b₁, b₂ =Trapezoid bases
  • leg =Trapezoid leg length

About Perimeter

Perimeter is the total distance around the outside of a two-dimensional shape. It's the sum of all the sides of a polygon or the circumference of a circle.

Common Formulas:

  • • Rectangle: P = 2(length + width)
  • • Square: P = 4 × side
  • • Circle: C = 2πr (circumference)
  • • Triangle: P = side₁ + side₂ + side₃
  • • Regular Polygon: P = n × side length

Applications:

  • • Fencing and boundary calculations
  • • Construction and architecture
  • • Material estimation (trim, edging)
  • • Sports field design
  • • Garden and landscape planning

Tips

  • Enter the dimensions in the same unit for consistency.
  • Results update automatically as you type.
  • Use the unit selector to convert between different measurement systems.
