Calculate central tendency measures for any dataset.
Central tendency describes where data points cluster. The three main measures—mean, median, and mode—each provide unique insights into your dataset.
The arithmetic mean is calculated by summing all values and dividing by the count. It is sensitive to outliers, meaning a single extreme value can significantly shift the mean.
Formula: Mean = Σx / n
The median is the middle value when data is sorted. For even-sized datasets, it is the average of the two middle values. The median is resistant to outliers, making it more robust for skewed data.
The mode is the value that occurs most often. A dataset may be unimodal (one mode), bimodal (two modes), multimodal, or have no mode if all values appear equally.
The range is the difference between the maximum and minimum values. It shows the spread of the data but is also sensitive to outliers.
