About Child Height Prediction
Predicting a child's future adult height is a common curiosity for parents. While no method is 100% accurate due to the complex nature of genetics and environmental factors, the Mid-Parental Height method provides a statistically sound estimate.
How It Works
This calculator uses the Khamis-Roche or Mid-Parental Height method, which is based on the parents' heights:
- For boys: (Father's Height + Mother's Height + 5 inches) / 2
- For girls: (Father's Height + Mother's Height - 5 inches) / 2
Note: 5 inches is approximately 13 centimeters.
Influencing Factors
- Genetics: The primary determinant (approx. 80%).
- Nutrition: Adequate protein, calcium, and vitamins during growth years.
- Health: Chronic illnesses can affect growth patterns.
- Sleep: Growth hormone is primarily released during sleep.
Tips
- Enter the dimensions in the same unit for consistency.
- Results update automatically as you type.
- Use the unit selector to convert between different measurement systems.
