Understanding Healthy Weight

There isn't a single "perfect" weight for everyone. A healthy weight is one that lowers your risk for various health problems. The most common method for estimating this is the Body Mass Index (BMI).

Formulas Explained

  • BMI Range: Calculates weight based on height to fall within the standard healthy BMI range of 18.5 to 24.9.
  • Devine Formula (1974): Originally developed to calculate medication dosages, it became a standard for estimating ideal body weight.
  • Robinson & Miller Formulas (1983): Modifications to the Devine formula to improve accuracy based on new data.
