Data Usage Calculator
Estimate your monthly internet data usage. Find out if your current data plan is enough for your streaming and gaming habits.
Formula:
Total = Σ (Hours × Rate)
Rate depends on quality (SD/HD/4K)

Mathematical Principles
Data usage is calculated by multiplying the bitrate of the content by the duration of consumption.
1. Bitrates & File Sizes
Internet speed is measured in bits (Mbps), while data usage is measured in bytes (MB, GB).1 Byte = 8 Bits
If a video stream has a bitrate of 5 Mbps (Megabits per second):
Data per second = 5 / 8 = 0.625 MB/s
Data per hour = 0.625 × 3600 = 2,250 MB ≈ 2.25 GB/hour
2. Common Consumption Rates
- SD Video (480p): ~0.7 GB/hour
- HD Video (1080p): ~3.0 GB/hour
- 4K Video (UHD): ~7.0 GB/hour
- Music (High Quality): ~0.15 GB/hour
